Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, 13 August 2026: Saudi Energy and Expo 2030 Riyadh have announced the signing of a Power Supply and Implementation Agreement to deliver the power infrastructure required across the Expo 2030 Riyadh site. This milestone reflects the continued momentum of the project as it transitions into large-scale development, advancing steadily toward the delivery of an unprecedented World Expo.
The agreement was signed by Eng. Khalid bin Salem AlGhamdi, Chief Executive Officer of Saudi Energy and Eng. Talal Al-Marri, Chief Executive Officer of Expo 2030 Riyadh and aims to establish the electrical infrastructure required to meet the power demands of Expo 2030 Riyadh.
The scope of the agreement includes the construction of a bulk supply point, three primary substations, and all associated transmission and distribution infrastructure. The execution of these works will be supported by leading Saudi companies, including Alfanar, Haif Company, Trading and Development Partnership, and Al-Babtain Power & Telecom Company, reflecting the depth of national capabilities contributing to the delivery of Expo 2030 Riyadh. Collectively, these works will ensure that electrical power is available ahead of the event, supporting the testing, commissioning, and operational readiness of the Expo 2030 Riyadh site and facilities.
Eng. Khalid bin Salem AlGhamdi, CEO of Saudi Energy commented that the agreement reflects the critical role that Saudi Energy plays in supporting major national projects by developing a reliable and highly efficient power infrastructure. He added that Saudi Energy will deploy its capabilities and expertise to execute Expo 2030 Riyadh’s electric supply requirements to the highest standards of quality and operational performance, supporting the readiness of this global event and aligning with the Kingdom’s development goals.
Commenting on the announcement, Talal Al-Marri, CEO of Expo 2030 Riyadh, said that the agreement marks another important milestone, reflecting the accelerated progress across the various workstreams underway on site and reinforcing its readiness in line with the established delivery schedule. He highlighted that the collaboration with leading Saudi national companies reflects confidence in local capabilities and expertise, and their ability to deliver projects of this scale and ambition in line with the highest technical and operational standards. He added that these partnerships are contributing to the development of advanced and reliable infrastructure that will support Expo 2030 Riyadh’s readiness to welcome the world in 2030 and deliver an exceptional edition of the World Expo, reflecting the Kingdom’s ambition and its capabilities in delivering major global projects.
The agreement represents a significant step toward securing the critical utility requirements of Expo 2030 Riyadh and enabling the timely development and successful opening of the event. Expo 2030 Riyadh is set to take place from 1 October 2030 to 31 March 2031 and is expected to bring together 197 countries, 29 organizations, and welcome 42 million visits. Held under the theme “Foresight for Tomorrow,” Expo 2030 Riyadh will provide a platform for participants to exchange ideas, shape solutions, and build partnerships that drive real impact, address global challenges, and unlock new opportunities. Following the six-month event, the site will evolve into a global village, leaving a lasting legacy for Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the world.
